Razor
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 52% pickrate: 7%)Tusk
* Static Link drains Tusk's base damage, and it also reduces his Walrus PUNCH! crit.
* Plasma Field and
Eye of the Storm allow Razor to chase Tusk after he uses Snowball.
Phoenix
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 5%)Sand King
* Sand King has nothing to deal with Supernova, as none of his spells are effective.
* The damage-over-time abilities of Phoenix disable Sand King's Blink Dagger very often.
Tidehunter
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 5%)Sand King
* Ravage, being an AoE disable, cancels Epicenter's channeling from a long range, limiting his potential to counter-initiate.
* This can be remedied, however, by first using a Black King Bar, then channel Epicenter, then finally initiate with
Blink Dagger.
Techies
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 10%)Tusk
* After using Snowball, Tusk can't control where he's going, allowing Techies to make him roll onto mines.

* Ghostship helps your team soak up damage from Epicenter, especially if he initiates during the battle.

Rubick
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 25%)Sand King
* Burrowstrike is one of the best and easiest steals for Rubick and Sand King should be careful when playing against him - it's much better to give away Sand Storm.
Bristleback
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 43% pickrate: 1%)Sand King
* Quill Spray will hit Sand King inside Sand Storm, damaging him and putting Sand King's
Blink Dagger on cooldown, preventing him from escaping.

* Durable heroes can stand against Tusk during 1v1: Axe,

Dragon Knight,
Night Stalker,
Centaur Warrunner,
Wraith King and more.
Earthshaker

* Echo Slam is good against Snowball since it bunches everyone up. This can set up some prime opportunities for Blink Echo Slams.
Sand King
* Heroes with no mobility will take some good damage from Sand King's spells: Dragon Knight,
Jakiro,
Pugna,
Earthshaker,...
Zeus
[wiki] rating: 0.4 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 14%)Sand King
* Zeus usually stays at the back in teamfights and it is hard for Sand King to find Zeus and knock him down before Zeus deals his damage.
* All of Zeus' abilities, especially Thundergod's Wrath, disables Sand King's
Blink Dagger, effectively reducing Sand King's initiation and counter-initiation potential.
* Lightning Bolt deals damage to Sand King in Sand Storm and reveals him. It also interrupts channeling of Epicenter.
Tusk
* Heroes with long range abilities are also able to touch Zeus, such as Clockwerk,
Kunkka,
Puck,
Skywrath Mage,
Spirit Breaker,
Tusk and others.
Disruptor
[wiki] rating: 0.4 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 10%)Tusk
* Glimpse can return Tusk to where he was after using Snowball.
* Static Storm prevents Tusk from escaping with
Snowball and when upgraded with
Aghanim's Scepter, it will also prevent him from using items.
Tusk
* Tusk with
Snowball
* Heroes that can dodge Glimpse:
* Puck with
Phase Shift

Tricks of the Trade

* An ill-timed and ill-positioned Snowball will give Batrider a free counter-initiation with
Flaming Lasso if Batrider is far enough to avoid the stun from the
Snowball.
Additional:
* Sticky Napalm makes it difficult for Tusk to hold his own on lane.
* An ill-timed and ill-positioned Snowball will give Batrider a free counter-initiation with

* Heroes with blink or movement abilities, which are disabled by Pounce's leash: Anti-Mage,

Monkey King,
Morphling,
Pangolier,
Phantom Assassin,
Phoenix,
Puck,

Riki,
Sand King,
Spirit Breaker,
Timbersaw,
Tusk.
Sand King
* He has a hard time killing Sand King because of the survivability he gets from Burrowstrike and Sand Storm.
* Shadow Dance, which usually allows Slark to survive fights, is ineffective against Sand King's AoE damage.
Sniper
[wiki] rating: -1.6 (winrate: 44% pickrate: 11%)Sand King
* Sand King is a strong ganker, allowing him to shut down squishy heroes in the early game: Phantom Assassin,
Clinkz,
Sniper,
Enchantress,...
Tusk
* Snowball allows Tusk to move himself and allies towards Sniper whilst invulnerable and hidden.
* His Ice Shards may also block pathing for Sniper as he has no means of moving through obstacles. In addition,
Tag Team can hinder Sniper's escape.
Additional:
* Tusk alone or with his teammates can close Sniper's long range easily with Snowball, even wasting Shrapnel, ending with a very vulnerable Sniper.
* Walrus PUNCH! damage can easily kill Sniper instantly due to his low health.
Templar Assassin
[wiki] rating: -1.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 4%)Sand King
* Sand King can quickly remove her Refraction with his Sand Storm.
* Once Refraction is down, she is very vulnerable to Epicenter's high magic damage.
Tusk
* Because Templar Assassin does not have escape potential in lane, any support hero with roaming potential and a Dust of Appearance can be great at shutting her down early game:
Earth Spirit,
Spirit Breaker,
Tusk,
Bounty Hunter,
Riki,
Warlock.
Mars
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 10%)Tusk
* Snowball can protect Tusk and his teammates from a Spear of Mars' stun after an Arena of Blood, and with proper targeting, even bring them out of the Arena. This is especially noticeable in the earlier stages of the game before allies buy
Black King Bar and rely on this less. Even during the late-game, Tusk can purchase a
Blink Dagger to save allies that are caught before Black King Bars can be used by Blinking in and Snowballing out.
* Tag Team is a constant threat to Mars in-lane, as it deals significant damage and slow, making Bulwark slightly ineffective.
* It is worth noting that Ice Shards can be detrimental to Tusk's own team by creating terrain that Spear of Mars can latch on, though using it conservatively is a good enough solution in most cases.
Phantom Assassin
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 10%)Sand King
* Phantom Assassin relies on her Blur to stay alive, but is very vulnerable to Sand King's heavy magic damage.
* With Burrowstrike, Sand King can often catch Phantom Assassin before she can use her Black King Bar.
* Sand King can dodge Stifling Dagger with Sandstorm.
* Phantom Assassin has a hard time killing Sand King because of his high mobility.

[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 12%)Sand King
* Sand King's Caustic Finale combined with
Sand Storm will kill Treants easily.
* Sand King can interrupt Teleportation with Burrowstrike, even through Sprout.
Additional:
* With Caustic Finale, Sand King can easily kill the treants from Nature's Call.
* Burrowstrike allows Sand King to prevent Nature's Prophet from using Teleportation inside of his
Sprout.
Pugna
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 3%)Sand King
* Pugna's
Nether Ward damages Sand King when he channels Epicenter, preventing him from using Blink Dagger afterward.
Sand King
* Heroes with no mobility will take some good damage from Sand King's spells: Dragon Knight,
Jakiro,
Pugna,
Earthshaker,...
Tusk
* Pugna's low health and reliance on channeled abilities make him very vulnerable to Tusk, although Pugna can win in a straight up 1v1 later in the game.
Chaos Knight
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 3%)Sand King
* Sand King's massive area damage output, particularly Epicenter, allows him to quickly take down Chaos Knight and his illusions.
* Sand King can also apply Caustic Finale to illusions with attacks for extra damage when they die.
Pangolier
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 9%)Tusk
* Ice Shards can easily interfere with Rolling Thunder, making him stuck inside the arc and wasting his ultimate. Do not panic and use Shield Crash to get out of that position.
* Snowball helps Tusk and his allies follow a fleeing Pangolier, keep in mind that the Pangolier can always counter-initiate with his Rolling Thunder.
* Walrus PUNCH! deals heavy damage even during his Rolling Thunder.
Shadow Fiend
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 18%)Tusk
* Shadow Fiend's lack of mobility and low base health make him an easy target for early ganks.
Bloodseeker
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 3%)Tusk
* Snowball negates Rupture and protects Tusk allies when Ruptured.
Storm Spirit
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 6%)Tusk
* Tusks damage/stun is enough to obliviate Storm Spirit before he can do anything.
* Tusk is a common Blink Dagger carrier, and once he reaches Level 18,
Walrus PUNCH! deals roughly half of Storm Spirit's health alone, It also stuns for a long enough time for Tusk to
Snowball Storm Spirit, stunning him even more, If that hasn't finished him off, the damage from
Ice Shards probably will. Combined with
Tag Team, which adds bonus damage to Tusks attacks, Storm Spirit is unlikely to survive Tusk initiating on him
* Walrus PUNCH is even more potent if he uses a Silver Edge instead
* However while Ball Lightning doesn't disjoint Snowball, if used before Tusk hits with Snowball, prevents the stun and damage from being applied
Viper
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 4%)Tusk
* Viper Strike can be countered through Snowball, wasting Viper's mana through his ultimate.
* Nethertoxin is useless against Tusk as he has no passive abilities at all. And to make things worse,
Nethertoxin cannot disable
Walrus PUNCH! because it's an auto-cast ability.
Crystal Maiden
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 13%)Tusk
* Snowball allows Tusk to easily cancel Freezing Field from a safe distance without putting himself in any danger.
* Walrus PUNCH! is most certainly a high enough damage nuke to easily kill off Crystal Maiden.
* Ice Shards can prevent the already immobile Crystal Maiden from escaping, making her an easy kill for either Tusk or a teammate.
Additional:
* Crystal Maiden's low health and armor make her an easy target for Walrus PUNCH!
* Tusk's Snowball can protect allies and cancel Freezing Field.
* Snowball and Walrus PUNCH! can interrupt Freezing Field.
Pudge
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 29%)Tusk
* Tag Team easily overwhelms pudge,as he has low armor.Combined with heavy physical hitters and Pudge's slow speed, it becomes for Pudge difficult to escape.
* Snowball hides a Dismembered ally and stops his ultimate.
* Walrus PUNCH! removes a big chunk of his health and stuns him.
* Pudge usually can't stand toe to toe against Tusk and his allies in the early game.
Enigma
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 3%)Tusk
* Walrus PUNCH! can interrupt
Black Hole and it can pierce spell immunity and neither
Black King Bar nor
Linken's Sphere can protect Enigma from
Walrus PUNCH! as
Walrus PUNCH! is an auto-cast ability.
* In pretty much any phase of the game, Tusk's abilities can easily cancel Black Hole and disrupt Enigma's positioning.
Venomancer
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 4%)Tusk
* Snowball can be used to save allies or himself during Venomous Gale and
Poison Nova.
* Venomancer lacks mobility and has low base health, so he can be killed by Walrus PUNCH!
Drow Ranger
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 18%)Tusk
* Snowball and
Ice Shards keep Drow Ranger down and preventing her from running away.
* Snowball also lets Tusk get to Drow Ranger and stop her Marksmanship bonus. It can also be to save allies affected by Gust.
* Tag Team allows Tusk to slow her down and land a killing blow on her.
* Walrus PUNCH! slows Drow Ranger and deals a huge amount of damage to her, due to her low health (and low armor without Marksmanship, since Tusk can quickly close the gap to Drow Ranger).
Chen
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 0%)Sand King
* Burrowstrike and
Sand Storm will deal a large amount of damage to Chen's creeps.
* Caustic Finale will quickly clear Chen's creeps at low health.
Broodmother
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 54% pickrate: 3%)Sand King
* Burrowstrike can be used as an escape or initiation against Broodmother.
* Sand Storm quickly kills any spiderlings caught inside if Sand King can manage to stun them.
Additional:
* Caustic Finale allows Sand King to easily kill Broodmother's Spiderlings throughout the game.
* Sand King can usually catch a split pushing Broodmother with Blink Dagger and Burrowstrike.
Terrorblade
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 45% pickrate: 2%)Sand King
* Because of his massive AoE damage, Sand King is very effective against illusion heroes: Chaos Knight,
Phantom Lancer,
Terrorblade,...
Enchantress
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 2%)Sand King
* Sand King is a strong ganker, allowing him to shut down squishy heroes in the early game: Phantom Assassin,
Clinkz,
Sniper,
Enchantress,...
Monkey King
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 8%)Tusk
* Tusk can

* Heroes that are able to slow Tiny's attack speed, like Tusk and
Phoenix, will greatly limit his Physical damage output.

* Heroes with hiding abilities can protect disabled allies: Outworld Destroyer,
Shadow Demon,
Tusk,
Phoenix with
Aghanim's Scepter.
Additional:
* Bane has low mobility and health, making him an easy target for Walrus PUNCH!
* Walrus PUNCH! can be used to cancel Fiend's Grip if he is not the target.
Puck
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 9%)Tusk
* Heroes with spell immunity or pseudo-blinks which provide invulnerability: Lifestealer,
Juggernaut,
Omniknight,
Huskar , and
Tusk have spells which allow them to easily escape Dream Coil.
Juggernaut
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 11%)Tusk
* Heroes with abilities that can save teammates are also effective such as Shadow Demon,
Dazzle,
Oracle,
Bane,
Pugna,
Tusk,
Winter Wyvern,
Io,
Underlord,
Treant Protector and
Keeper of the Light.
Nyx Assassin

* Heroes with no mobility will take some good damage from Sand King's spells: Dragon Knight,
Jakiro,
Pugna,
Earthshaker,...
Naga Siren
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 3%)Sand King
* Since Naga Siren is not a hero that likes to go for Black King Bar, she is vulnerable to nukers with strong magical damage and big area-of-effect spells in every game more than any other carry heroes:
Sand King,
Jakiro,
Leshrac,
Lina,
Earthshaker,
Zeus.
Io
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 4%)Tusk

* Heroes with powerful area-of-effect disables can initiate on Meepo and his clones and shut him down, such as Enigma,
Invoker,
Magnus,
Puck, and
Sand King.
Additional:
* Burrowstrike can stun multiple Meepos, making them vulnerable targets.
* Epicenter and Sand Storm's AoE damage ensures all Meepo clones get damaged, making it hard for Meepo to choose which one to flee as all are taking damage at the same rate.
* Just be aware when using Sand Storm to escape, as Meepo has good AoE damage and disables, which, as explained in the "Bad Against" section, works well against an invisible Sand King.
Dragon Knight
[wiki] rating: 0.0 (winrate: 45% pickrate: 5%)Tusk
* Durable heroes can stand against Tusk during 1v1: Axe,
Dragon Knight,
Night Stalker,

About
This website was made to help you in pick stage of online game Dota 2. It calculates rating for each possible counterpicks based on tips from web-based database made up entirely of user contributions Dota 2 wiki.
You will get the list of recommended hero counters with a list of tips written by Dota 2 wiki contributors explaining why it's good against the particular hero. In comparison to other similar websites, which show only rating based on average hero win rate from dotabuff or similar service.
How to interpret this data
Take it with a bit of grain of salt, especially if the recommendation has a low rating (<= 1), some heroes
may win a lane in an early game but would lose in late game (and vice versa). That's why sometimes
you could hero names appearing as a counter and as being countered, as on image:
You can also add your own tips, update old data and fix mistakes by editing page on Dota 2 Wiki (it works like Wikipedia - anyone can contribute, you don't even need to register) these edits will appear on this website automatically (data is updated several times per week).
Right now there is no app/overlay that will detect picks automatically (like overwolf dota plus or become the gamer), instead, you can open web version in a steam in-game browser or use mobile version on your smartphone.
