Morphling,
Ember Spirit
Lycan
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 57% pickrate: 3%)Warlock
* Shapeshift allows Lycan to escape from Upheaval with maximum movement speed.

[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 53% pickrate: 5%)Gyrocopter
* Magnetic Field evades most of Gyrocopter's attacks.
Silencer
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 52% pickrate: 15%)Warlock
* Because Warlock's abilities are all active abilities, Silencer can make his impact minimal.
* Arcane Curse prevents Warlock from using his abilities without increasing it's duration, which since all of Warlock's abilities are actives it is very effective against him.
* Last Word can prevent Warlock from casting his Fatal Bonds, Chaotic Offering, and Upheaval combo.
* Global Silence can nullify Warlock's impact in fights by preventing him from casting Fatal Bonds and Chaotic Offering, or by interrupting his Upheaval.
Dark Seer
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 52% pickrate: 2%)Warlock
* Surge allows for Dark Seer and his allies to escape from Upheaval due to it ignoring any slow.
Slark
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 17%)Warlock
* Upheaval does not interrupt Slark too much, as he can just Pounce out of the area.
* Fatal Bonds and
Shadow Word can be dispelled by Dark Pact.
Weaver
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 3%)Warlock
* Weaver's Shukuchi allows him to escape from Warlock's Upheaval with high move speed.
* Time Lapse allows Weaver to ignore damage from Warlock's Golem and escape.
Lina
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 16%)Gyrocopter
* Laguna Blade ends Gyrocopter very quickly in the early to mid game.
Ancient Apparition
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 5%)Warlock
* Ice Blast cancels Warlock's Golem's and Shadow Word's healing.
* Cold Feet stuns Warlock if he stands in place, forcing him to stop channeling Upheaval immediately or be forced to stop channeling it by it's stun.
Nyx Assassin
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 4%)Warlock
* Impale and
Spiked Carapace interrupts Upheaval with ease.
* Warlock's low health pool, mobility, and high intelligence gain makes him a prime target for Nyx Assassin's burst damage.
Void Spirit
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 5%)Gyrocopter
* Void Spirit can easily dodge Gyrocopter's {Ability ID:Homing Missile|gyrocopter} with the help of Dissimilate.
* Void Spirit can partly dodge Call Down via Dissimilate or move out of its range with Astral Step.
* Gyrocopter has no escape abilities, which benefits Void Spirit's high mobility.
Faceless Void
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 9%)Gyrocopter
* Time Walk makes it hard for Gyrocopter to pin down Faceless Void. With
Backtrack it also negates most of his attacks.
* Time Dilation will prevent Gyrocopter from using his cooldown spells.
Kunkka
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 3%)Warlock
* Ghostship helps your team soak up damage from Chaotic Offering and hit summons hard.
* Tidebringer clears summons later in the game.
* Most of your spells can interrupt Upheaval.
Queen of Pain
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 6%)Gyrocopter
* Blink makes it hard for Gyrocopter to pin down Queen of Pain.
* Sonic Wave is very effective at ganking Gyrocopter in the early game.
Timbersaw
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 5%)Gyrocopter
* Timbersaw is often too mobile and durable for Gyrocopter to bring down with his area attacks.
Tinker
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 56% pickrate: 11%)Gyrocopter
* Any hero with a low HP pool is easy for Tinker to nuke down: Crystal Maiden,
Enchantress,
Gyrocopter,
Lion,
Riki,
Techies,
Terrorblade,
Necrophos,
Invoker.
Death Prophet
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 55% pickrate: 11%)Warlock
* Because all of Warlock's abilities are active abilities, silences can make his impact in fights minimal. Be cautious of heroes that carry silences like Death Prophet,
Puck, and the aforementioned
Silencer.
Riki
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 54% pickrate: 13%)Warlock
* Warlock is a very strong hero when positioned correctly, and his long cast range helps him with this. However, some Heroes might disrupt or sneakily pass through his allies and deal with him, preventing him from doing his job. Such heroes include Chaos Knight,
Spirit Breaker,
Riki, and more.
Ursa
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 52% pickrate: 15%)Warlock
* Ursa can shred Warlock's Golems in a few seconds with
Fury Swipes and

* Heroes with weaker mobility will struggle to keep up with Night Stalker: Gyrocopter,
Ursa,
Drow Ranger
Legion Commander
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 13%)Warlock
* Heroes who rely on summons will see them destroyed easily by Overwhelming Odds: Lycan,
Arc Warden,
Warlock,
Chen
Jakiro
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 12%)Warlock
* Heroes with channeling spells are very easy targets for Jakiro's abilities: Crystal Maiden,
Dawnbreaker,
Enigma,
Pudge,
Shadow Fiend,
Shadow Shaman,
Warlock.
Necrophos
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 7%)Warlock
* Heroes that have small health pools and little to no escape mechanisms are even easier prey for Necrophos. Ghost Shroud's slow will allow him to catch him with them, and get nuked down with his abilities, even preventing retaliation due to Reaper's Scythe's stun. Such heroes include Crystal Maiden,
Witch Doctor,
Warlock or
Shadow Fiend.
Zeus
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 14%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes with high magical burst damage will kill Gyrocopter before he gets to do much: Lina,
Lion,
Zeus
Pudge
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 29%)Gyrocopter
* Abilities that deal low damage with high amounts of instances are irrelevant against Pudge during Flesh Heap's active: Gyrocopter's
Rocket Barrage and
Dark Seer's
Ion Shell are just a couple examples.
Storm Spirit
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 6%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes with high mobility will be able to avoid Gyrocopter's area attacks: Storm Spirit,
Morphling,
Ember Spirit
Puck
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 9%)Warlock
* Because all of Warlock's abilities are active abilities, silences can make his impact in fights minimal. Be cautious of heroes that carry silences like Death Prophet,
Puck, and the aforementioned
Silencer.
Snapfire
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 15%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes with summons that are destroyed by a fixed number of attacks: Undying's
Tombstone,
Gyrocopter's
Homing Missile, and
Zeus's
Nimbus.
Spirit Breaker
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 9%)Warlock
* Warlock is a very strong hero when positioned correctly, and his long cast range helps him with this. However, some Heroes might disrupt or sneakily pass through his allies and deal with him, preventing him from doing his job. Such heroes include Chaos Knight,
Spirit Breaker,
Riki, and more.
Doom
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 8%)Warlock
* Supports with useful teamfight or contribution spells will be helpless against Doom: Dazzle,
Oracle,
Warlock.
Morphling
[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 44% pickrate: 8%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes with high mobility will be able to avoid Gyrocopter's area attacks: Storm Spirit,
Morphling,
Ember Spirit
Juggernaut
[wiki] rating: 0.4 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 11%)Gyrocopter
* Blade Fury and
Omnislash allows Juggernaut to avoid Gyrocopter's area attacks entirely.
Warlock
* Chaotic Offering can stop heroes who like to use spell immunity and teleport scrolls to safely farm during the early to mid game, since it stuns and also goes through spell immunity. Notable examples: Juggernaut,
Lifestealer.
Lifestealer
[wiki] rating: 0.4 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 5%)Gyrocopter
* Rage ignores all of Gyrocopter's magical attacks.
* Feast helps Lifestealer out-damage Gyrocopter at close range.
Warlock
* Heroes with summons: Lycan,
Broodmother,
Visage,
Nature's Prophet,
Warlock.
Sven
[wiki] rating: 0.4 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 2%)Warlock
* With God's Strength, Warlock Golem goes down in a matter of seconds. The two weaker golems granted by Aghanim's Scepter will fare worse due to Great Cleave hitting both.
* Storm Hammer upgraded with Aghanim's Scepter dispels
Shadow Word.
Additional:
* God's Strength combined with
Great Cleave destroys Chaotic Offering golems within seconds.
* Warcry gives Sven and his allies armor to help against Warlock's Golem's heavy physical damage and movement speed to help escape Upheaval.
* Storm Hammer disrupts Upheaval.
Gyrocopter
* Heroes that relies on armor or other type of physical damage negation are easy for Gyrocopter to take down during the early game with his magical damage: Axe,
Dragon Knight,
Sven.
Meepo
[wiki] rating: -2.0 (winrate: 56% pickrate: 1%)Warlock
* Fatal Bonds links the Meepos together, which combined with area of effect damage or Cleave will be devastating.
Gyrocopter
* Flak Cannon and Call Down will shred Meepo's clones.
* Homing Missile can catch and single out retreating Meepos, making them an easy kill.
Terrorblade
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 45% pickrate: 2%)Gyrocopter
* Flak Cannon destroys Terrorblade's illusions very quickly.
Hoodwink
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 13%)Warlock
* Chaotic Offering's vast area-effect can destroy trees and stun Hoodwink.
* Upheaval makes retreating with
Scurry difficult.
Marci
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 7%)Warlock
* Warlock has strong counter initiation which reduces Marci's effectiveness throughout the game.
* Fatal Bonds cancels
Blink Dagger, which means Marci can move in and out of fights less effectively.
* Chaotic Offering paired with
Upheaval provides a ministun, a movement slow and paired with
Fatal Bonds has the potential to deal a lot of damage to Marci while she jumps on a target. The ministun also means that Marci will have a harder time casting Rebound. If Warlock does build
Aghanim's Scepter and
Refresher Orb, the physical damage from Golems will overwhelm Marci, especially when played as a support.
Enigma
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 3%)Warlock
* Chaotic Offering's spell immunity piercing stun can stop Black Hole's channeling. Due to this ability's large area of effect, it can be cast at a safe distance from the Black Hole. It also goes through
Black King Bar and ignores
Linken's Sphere.
* Fatal Bonds and
Aghanim's Shard upgraded
Shadow Word can be used to make Enigma's Eidolons easier to kill, potentially feeding the enemy team. Also, their constant damage will put
Blink Dagger on cooldown, potentially forcing Enigma to prematurely activate
Black King Bar.
Additional:
* Chaotic Offering pierces spell immunity and is an area of effect ability, therefore it doesn't matter if Enigma buys Black King Bar or
Linken's Sphere, Warlock will always be able to cancel the channeling of
Black Hole.
* Enemies often get clumped up around Black Hole to hit your allies, giving you a perfect opportunity to cast Fatal Bonds, Chaotic Offering, and Upheaval on multiple enemies.
Phantom Lancer
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 2%)Gyrocopter
* Flak Cannon destroys Phantom Lancer's illusions very quickly.
Additional:
* Flak Cannon and
Call Down destroy Phantom Lancer's illusions very quickly.
Naga Siren
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 3%)Gyrocopter
* Flak Cannon and
Call Down can easily clear Naga Siren's illusions.
Undying
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 52% pickrate: 10%)Gyrocopter
* Flak Cannon rips through Tombstone's zombies.
Additional:
* Flak Cannon enables Gyrocopter to clear the zombies easily.
Dragon Knight
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 45% pickrate: 5%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes that relies on armor or other type of physical damage negation are easy for Gyrocopter to take down during the early game with his magical damage: Axe,
Dragon Knight,
Sven.
Phantom Assassin
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 10%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes with heavy early and mid-game magical damage are also problematic for Phantom Assassin due to being able to easily kill her before she gains an item advantage: Lina,
Necrophos,
Nyx Assassin,
Gyrocopter. Should be noted these heroes are usually quite squishy and don't scale well with health. So to some respect, they are on a time crunch.
Templar Assassin
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 4%)Warlock
* Fragile supports with low armor are always a good prey, also her Psionic Trap will wear down most attempts to flee with their built-in disables: Silencer,
Crystal Maiden,
Warlock,
Ancient Apparition,
Grimstroke,
Witch Doctor
Warlock
* Because Templar Assassin does not have escape potential in lane, any support hero with roaming potential and a Dust of Appearance can be great at shutting her down early game:
Earth Spirit,
Spirit Breaker,
Tusk,
Bounty Hunter,
Riki,
Warlock.
Additional:
* Warlock can cast Upheaval when Templar Assassin uses Meld, preventing her from escaping at the right moment.
* Warlock can also send his Warlock Golem near where she used Meld, preventing escape by
Blink Dagger due to the Warlock Golem's
Permanent Immolation.
* Warlock's Golem's Permanent Immolation will burn away
Refraction with its damage over time.
Gyrocopter
* Weak damage but high tick rate or persist in a long time: Slark,
Gyrocopter,
Queen of Pain,
Shadow Shaman (
Shackles),
Jakiro,
Pugna
* Heroes that can quickly deal damage to her, regardless of how weak they are, can easily break through her Refraction:
* Multiple attackers thanks to summoned units or clones: Meepo,
Witch Doctor,
Lycan,
Enigma,
Shadow Shaman
* Multiple attackers thanks to illusions: Phantom Lancer,
Chaos Knight,
Naga Siren (bonus for her
Ensnare). Also despite the visual effects, Templar Assassin does not spill damage against illusions or buildings, so she is not a really good hero to clean up illusions.
* Weak damage but high tick rate or persist in a long time: Slark,
Gyrocopter,
Queen of Pain,
Shadow Shaman (
Shackles),
Jakiro,
Pugna
Shadow Fiend
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 18%)Warlock
* Heroes with channeling spells because Shadow Fiend has nothing to cancel channeling outside of Requiem of Souls: Bane,
Enigma,
Pudge,
Shadow Shaman,
Dawnbreaker,
Warlock,
Crystal Maiden.
Additional:
* Because Shadow Fiend lacks escaping mechanisms, and is dependent on fair positioning for channeling Requiem of Souls, it's easier for Warlock with his long range crowd control abilities to lock Shadow Fiend down for his team.
Witch Doctor
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 15%)Warlock
* Channeling heroes will not go well against Warlock, especially those who build Black King Bar as Warlock's ultimate ability stun goes through spell immunity. E.g.:
Crystal Maiden,
Witch Doctor,
Enigma, etc.
Viper
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 4%)Warlock
* Viper cannot interrupt heroes with powerful channeling abilities: Bane,
Enigma,
Shadow Shaman,
Warlock
Crystal Maiden
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 13%)Warlock
* Channeling heroes will not go well against Warlock, especially those who build Black King Bar as Warlock's ultimate ability stun goes through spell immunity. E.g.:
Crystal Maiden,
Witch Doctor,
Enigma, etc.
Axe
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 9%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes that relies on armor or other type of physical damage negation are easy for Gyrocopter to take down during the early game with his magical damage: Axe,
Dragon Knight,
Sven.
Elder Titan
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 1%)Warlock
* While heroes with strong mobility are able to get close or flee from Upheaval, heroes with no escaping abilities or that lack long disables will perish against Warlock. Once the Warlock Golem lands with its stun, its hardly possible to escape when he casts Upheaval. Notable examples: Huskar,
Drow Ranger,
Lion,
Elder Titan, etc.
Drow Ranger
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 18%)Warlock
* While heroes with strong mobility are able to get close or flee from Upheaval, heroes with no escaping abilities or that lack long disables will perish against Warlock. Once the Warlock Golem lands with its stun, its hardly possible to escape when he casts Upheaval. Notable examples: Huskar,
Drow Ranger,
Lion,
Elder Titan, etc.
Earthshaker
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 10%)Warlock
* Warlock often stays back and counter-initiates by dropping his
Chaotic Offering on Earthshaker and his allies.
Io
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 4%)Warlock
* Heroes with both illusions and summons, for Io has nothing to deal with multiple enemies at once outside from Spirit's weak area-of-effect: Broodmother,
Chaos Knight,
Lycan,
Naga Siren,
Nature's Prophet,
Phantom Lancer,
Shadow Shaman,
Terrorblade,
Visage,
Warlock.
Visage
[wiki] rating: -0.6 (winrate: 55% pickrate: 2%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes with cleave or multi-target attacks can quickly take on Familiars and reduce Visage's firepower like Gyrocopter,
Kunkka,
Magnus and
Medusa.
Chaos Knight
[wiki] rating: -0.4 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 3%)Warlock
* Warlock is a very strong hero when positioned correctly, and his long cast range helps him with this. However, some Heroes might disrupt or sneakily pass through his allies and deal with him, preventing him from doing his job. Such heroes include Chaos Knight,
Spirit Breaker,
Riki, and more.
Gyrocopter
* Flak Cannon destroys Chaos Knight's illusions very quickly.
Lion
[wiki] rating: 0.0 (winrate: 45% pickrate: 10%)Gyrocopter
* Heroes with high magical burst damage will kill Gyrocopter before he gets to do much: Lina,
Lion,
Zeus
Warlock
* While heroes with strong mobility are able to get close or flee from Upheaval, heroes with no escaping abilities or that lack long disables will perish against Warlock. Once the Warlock Golem lands with its stun, its hardly possible to escape when he casts Upheaval. Notable examples: Huskar,
Drow Ranger,
Lion,
Elder Titan, etc.
Bane
[wiki] rating: 0.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 2%)Gyrocopter
* Low-health, normally mobile carries with a lot of damage are vulnerable to Bane's nukes and disables: Anti-Mage,
Clinkz,
Drow Ranger,
Faceless Void,
Gyrocopter,
Juggernaut,
Luna,
Meepo,
Mirana,
Monkey King,
Morphling,
Phantom Assassin,
Phantom Lancer,
Riki,
Shadow Fiend,
Slark,
Sniper,
Terrorblade,
Troll Warlord,
Weaver.
Warlock
* Heroes with illusions and summons can swarm Bane, who has no area abilities outside from Aghanim's Shard upgraded
Brain Sap:
Broodmother,
Chaos Knight,
Naga Siren,
Nature's Prophet,
Phantom Lancer,
Terrorblade,
Visage,
Warlock,
Wraith King.
Huskar
[wiki] rating: 0.0 (winrate: 53% pickrate: 6%)Gyrocopter
* Life Break and
Burning Spear usually kills Gyrocopter before he can do much damage to Huskar.
* Inner Fire applies a disarm on all enemies, which can be a hindrance to Gyrocopter.
Warlock
* Warlock Golems do plenty of physical and pure damage to bring down Huskar when he is at low health. Warlock is always a hazard for Huskar to initiate by using Life Break, because Chaotic Offering can stun him instantly, even when
Black King Bar is activated, and allows Warlock's team to gather their wit and retaliate.
* After using Life Break to jump in, Huskar will not have any means to escape Upheaval. Which since he is an attack-dependent hero, this will nullify his impact in fights.
To start select enemy heroes in the field above. It's intended to be used with multiple heroes. The more enemy heroes you provide the better results you will get.
About
This website was made to help you in pick stage of online game Dota 2. It calculates rating for each possible counterpicks based on tips from web-based database made up entirely of user contributions Dota 2 wiki.
You will get the list of recommended hero counters with a list of tips written by Dota 2 wiki contributors explaining why it's good against the particular hero. In comparison to other similar websites, which show only rating based on average hero win rate from dotabuff or similar service.
How to interpret this data
Take it with a bit of grain of salt, especially if the recommendation has a low rating (<= 1), some heroes
may win a lane in an early game but would lose in late game (and vice versa). That's why sometimes
you could hero names appearing as a counter and as being countered, as on image:
You can also add your own tips, update old data and fix mistakes by editing page on Dota 2 Wiki (it works like Wikipedia - anyone can contribute, you don't even need to register) these edits will appear on this website automatically (data is updated several times per week).
Right now there is no app/overlay that will detect picks automatically (like overwolf dota plus or become the gamer), instead, you can open web version in a steam in-game browser or use mobile version on your smartphone.

Warlock
*
Mana Break prevents Warlock from casting his spells, particularly in the laning phase.
Blink allows Anti-Mage to escape from Upheaval.
Counterspell reduces damage from Shadow Word and Warlock's Golem's
Permanent Immolation passive. Additionally, it can reflect Shadow Word and Fatal Bonds.
Mana Void deals heavy damage after Anti-Mage has drained Warlock's large mana pool.
*
*
*
Gyrocopter
*
Mana Break makes Gyrocopter, who has low mana pool, unable to use his abilities that most of his damage output depends on.
Counterspell negates magical damages from Gyrocopter and it can also reflect Homing Missile back to himself.
Blink.
*
* Anti-Mage can easily escape from Gyrocopter's attack range and Call Down with
